Sustainable
In addition to providing our customers with safe and reliable transportation, we will also strive to address environmental problems such as global warming by proposing various means of transportation that place a smaller burden on the environment and by contributing to the creation of a sustainable society. We utilize our networks to propose the optimal transportation plan to meet the needs of a customer.

Introduction to initiatives
Strengthening of environmentally friendly rail transportation
We are strengthening our rail transportation from our "Tokyo Rail Gate WEST" base located inside the grounds of the JR(Japan Railways) Tokyo Freight Terminal, to promote the development of a logistics system that is efficient and environmentally friendly. We are utilizing the following advantages to contribute to the realization of sustainable logistics.
Location advantages
The "Tokyo Rail Gate WEST" we operate is located adjacent to the JR(Japan Railways) Tokyo Freight Terminal and functions as a departure and arrival point for freight trains. It is an advantageous location that serves as a nodal point for land, sea, and air logistics in the Tokyo metropolitan area. This location ensures a smooth logistics flow and efficient cargo transportation.

Consideration for the environment
Rail transportation emits less CO2 than truck transportation and greatly reduces the burden placed on the environment.
These characteristics mean that rail transportation contributes to the building of sustainable logistics systems and also plays an important role from the viewpoint of environmental protection.

Efficiency improvement through large-volume transportation
Railways can transport large volumes of freight at a time, so they greatly improve the transportation efficiency compared to trucking. They also contribute to the securing of stable logistics as a means of transportation that addresses the problem of truck driver shortages due to 2024 legislation changes and the problem of labor shortages. Rail transportation therefore also offers efficient logistics infrastructure from a long-term perspective.

Pongamia business and contribution to sustainability
Pongamia is a legume tree that has strong characteristics that allow it to withstand drought and salt damage, and it can be expected to improve soil quality. The main advantages of the tree are its long life span of around 100 years, its ability to grow in areas experiencing drought or salt damage, the high oil content of its seeds, and its ability to reduce fertilizer use and improve soil fertility as a result of nitrogen fixation* by rhizobia (root nodule bacteria).
The oil extracted from its inedible seeds can be utilized as biofuel, and the pomace that remains after that extraction can be reused as fertilizer or feed, so it realizes the sustainable circular use of resources. (*Nitrogen fixation refers to the conversion of nitrogen from the air into ammonia and other organic nitrogen compounds that are easily utilized by plants.)

Taking on the challenge of sustainability, starting from abandoned farmland
Goto Kaisoten has invested in the pongamia-based biomass business of Four Pride and we are contributing to tree planting on abandoned farmland and degraded land, and to the regeneration of new ecosystems without destroying the natural environment. The planting of pongamia can be expected to improve the soil quality and to increase the soil fertility without the use of chemical fertilizers. We will also make this a sustainable business by extracting the oil from the seeds for use as biofuel, and by using the pomace that remains after that extraction as raw materials for feed and fertilizer. We will therefore connect this business to a shift away from fossil fuels and chemical fertilizers, and to the promotion of employment and economic revitalization throughout the region of the tree planting as a whole.

The 300-hectare first step toward CO2 reduction and symbiosis in the local community
Our afforestation project in Laos began in 2024 from a scale of 300 hectares. It is promoting measures to combat global warming through CO2 absorption and is incorporating environmentally friendly technologies such as the introduction of renewable energy and the use of organic fertilizers. In addition, we are focusing on improving the working environment for our workers and provide a safe and comfortable workplace environment.
Through these efforts, Goto Kaisoten is working together with Four Pride to utilize pongamia to reduce the burden on the environment while also contributing to sustainable economic, social, and environmental development.

Utilization of renewable energy
We prioritize our corporate social responsibility, and from the viewpoint of sustainability, we are actively promoting environmentally friendly initiatives for our own equipment. In a specific effort, we have installed solar power generation systems at our Rokko Island Office and Maya Office to promote the use of renewable energy. Through this initiative, we are aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also increasing our energy self-sufficiency. In addition, our use of solar power is realizing cleaner and more sustainable logistics activities and thereby helping to reduce the burden on society and the environment.
